Configmgr 2012 R2 CU3 released

Today the Cumulative Update 3 for System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager has been released. This bundle of updates fixes lots of issues and has some new features. The bundle fixes issues in the following areas:

  •  Software distribution and application management
  • Wake on LAN
  • Migration
  • Company Portal
  • Administrator Console
  • Mobile Devices
  • Operating system deployment
  • Client
  • Site servers and site systems
  • Powershell (see 2999304 )

And a new feature is that you are now able to restrict a client on which management point can be used to communicate with. A new registry key (AllowedMPs) under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CCM can be used to enter a FQDN of the management point that can be used to communicate with. This registry key does not affect the communication with other site systems.

Support for extra operating systems:

  • Debian 7 (x86)
  • Debian 7 (x64)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (x64)
  • CentOS 7 (x64)
  • Oracle 7 (x64)

Software updates

Child sites may perform partial WSUS synchronization when the primary is under heavy load. This partial synchronization occurs when the WSUS Synchronization Manager component on a primary site begins synchronization before WSUS has completed processing all updates metadata. To prevent this scenario a Sync Grace Period can be configured in the registry.

If you need the fixes or you want the new cool MP communication feature, be sure to download the update here:
The new build number is 5.00.7958.1401
