Citrix XenApp 6.5 integration with ConfigMgr 2012 – part 5

In the past four blogs about this subject we looked at the Cirtrix XenApp Connector for Configuration Manager 2012, along the way some issues came forward and were fixed with the help of the people behind Project Thor, Citrix J Also I would like to point out some troubleshooting options when working with the Citrix XenApp Connector for Configuration Manager 2012. Some notes from the test lab 😉

Before reading this blog, it is wise to read the earlier blogs on this subject;

Be sure to install the right web interface!

While installing my first Citrix XenApp 6.5 environment ever in my lab environment I installed the web interface that comes with the Citrix XenApp 6.5 installation. Everything works until you want to try to use the XenApp Deployment Type, like described in part 4 of the blog series. When looking at the log files of the Deployment Type Handler you see that the Deployment Type Handler cannot find any by Citrix published application. Thanks to Citrix for pointing me to the right direction, to use the Storefront Citrix Receiver website. After installing and configuring this web interface it worked like a charm.

The error in the Citrix.ConfigMgr.XenAppDTHandler*.log on the client:

<![LOG[PublishingID: “e1169ea8-22bd-4217-9550-4a7c34dcb08c” is not in Receiver’s resource list]LOG]!>

Install the app!

Be sure to install the application first before publishing it from the Configuration Manager Console to the XenApp farm. If the application that needs to be published to the XenApp farm is not installed on the servers, the XenApp Connector for Configuration Manager will not publish it to the XenApp farm. The Citrix XenApp connector for Configuration Manager will determine if the application is available and installed with Configuration Manager.

Logs to check;

  • Citrix.ConfigMgr.PublishingTask*.log

Error: ConfigMgr Application is not installed on any servers

Trigger the publication and synchronization if necessarily

The publication and synchronization of the applications to the Citrix XenApp  farm can be triggered by using two tasks that are available in the Start Menu;

  • Run Publishing Task
  • Run Synchronization Task
Running the publish task

The following logs can be checked;

C:Program FilesCitrixXenApp Connector for ConfigMgr 2012Connector ServiceLogs

  • Citrix.ConfigMgr.SynchronizationTask*.log
  • Citrix.ConfigMgr.PublishingTask*.log

If you want to see if the Connector is still functioning or you need to troubleshoot the connector, you can check the following file at the same location as above;

  • Citrix.ConfigMgr.XenAppConnector*.log

Next blog about this subject will be with a short webcast or something like that. The release of the XenApp Connector for Configuration Manager is scheduled for Q1 of 2013. It will also have support for the integration of App-v 5 that comes with Configuration Manager 2012 SP1.
